Parting Reflections: A Week Filled with Barakah

Assalamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatohu,

Allhamdulillah, it is truly by the will and favour of Allah subhana wa ta’ala, that in the past week not only have we been able to present Generation Muslim 3.0, but were able to organize an incredibly successful United Islam Awareness week, in which five different MSA’s across Western Canada were joined together to present their biggest event of the year. Our goal as an organization is to create the strong bonds of community, brotherhood, and sisterhood by uniting one another in works that will benefit society as a whole.

This year marked the fifth year of United Islam Awareness Week (UIAW). It focused on answering critical questions such as:

What is our purpose? Why are we alive? Is there a God? If so, did He create us for a reason?

UIAW is a week dedicated to promoting the teachings and practices of Islam and providing dawah to non-Muslims and the Muslim Community as a whole.  Alhamdulillah we were blessed to have prominent speakers such as Dr. Reda Bedeir, Sh. Gyasi McKinzie, Dr. Jamal Badawi, Sh. Abdurrahmann Murad, and Ustadh Al-Andalusi join us for the week.

This year UIAW saw its highest turnouts in each of the Universities, increased engagement, and much love and support from the campus communities. We are also elated to announce that alhamdulillah, by the Grace of Allah subhana wa ta’ala, there was a sister in Saskatoon who took her Shahadah!

The week was capped off with Generation 3.0 in Edmonton. Generation Muslim is the manifestation of a vision to protect and strengthen the Islamic identity of Muslims living in North America. The focus of the conference is to empower families to connect with their Deen together and in turn to inspire our community with a mere glimpse of what we can achieve when we are united with one another.

This year’s conference was incredibly special as for the first time in Edmonton it was over two days, with one day dedicated to exclusive workshops and the second was a full day conference. Generation Muslim challenged the audiences intellect with engaging topics and discussions tackling real issues faced by Muslim Canadians in the current time. Attendees gave positive feedback and felt that the conference really helped to shed light on how we should be dealing with our current situation, and how we can make a positive difference.

JazakumAllah Khayr to all of our attendees, volunteers and supporters within in the community. May Allah subhana wa ta’ala reward you immensely…Ameen.

Our goal, as always, is to leave you with a sense of community and inspiration. InshaAllah we look forward to having you as our guest at our upcoming events. For more information check out our NYM iNK Website and follow us on Facebook.
