Too often, we worry. We worry about the big things and the little things. Stress is not necessarily always a bad thing as it motivates us to do well and it encourages us to be more careful and thoughtful. However, we often worry about the things we cannot control. More importantly, we forget that there is the Best of Planners who we should have full trust in.
Having full trust in Allah SWT’s plan (Tawkkul), requires iman and assurance. First, we do all that we can and put forth our full efforts. Then, we make du’a and have trust in Allah SWT’s plan.
It was narrated by Anas ibn Maalik that a man said: “‘O Messenger of Allah, should I tie up [my camel] and rely on Allah, or should I leave it loose and rely on Him?’ He said: ‘”Tie it up and rely [on Allah].'” [Narrated by at-Tirmidhi (2517)]
Thereupon, it becomes evident that once you have followed the prescribed measures then you should not question or worry unnecessarily about what Allah SWT has planned for you. We take these measures to be obedient to Him and then we make du’a and rely in our hearts on Him as an act of trust in Allah SWT.
Moreover, Allah SWT has told us that he wants us to rely on Him. It is stated in the Qu’ran:
“Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him].” [3:159]
Thereupon, we should strive to have true tawakkul as He is the ultimate Sustainer and Provider of all things. Indeed, Allah SWT knows what is best for you.
