Camp Sunnah Memory: Strong Sisterhood Bonds

My earliest and one of my fondest memory of Camp Sunnah dates back to the Summer of 2015. I have been blessed to be able to attend Camp Sunnah a few times, alhumdulillah, but the most prominent gem that stuck with me is bonding with the sisters at the dining table. It seems small and insignificant in comparison to doing activities like archery, horseback riding, and kayaking. However, it was usually in those moments where all the sisters were sitting at the dining table together that we had some amazing moments.

Sometimes we’d be laughing, sharing stories, discussing our favourite parts from the lecture, and reflecting on our blessed time there. It was definitely those moments in the day at the dining table that I felt the bond of sisterhood stronger than ever. I remember one particular time when all the sisters were at the dining table discussing hijab and at the time, I shared my decision about wanting to start wearing hijab full-time even after leaving Camp Sunnah. I can still recall all the encouraging and supportive words I received from every sister. Alhumdulillah, I am truly grateful for the beautiful bonds and sisterhood we experienced at Camp Sunnah. I am still in contact with many of those sisters, despite us being in different provinces. We fostered a bond and sisterhood stronger than any other as we met at the camp and cared for one another for the sake of Allah (SWT).

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (SAWS), said, “Verily, Allah will say on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who love each other for the sake of My glory? Today, I will shelter them in My shade on a day when there is no shade but Mine.”
