Are You Ramadan Ready?

Sincere Repentance

Repent from sins and fulfill rights owed to others before the blessed month begins. This is important to ensure a clean heart and peace of mind for devoted and sincere ibadah (worship). In the Qu’ran, Allah (SWT) tells us to

…Turn to Allah in repentance all together, O believers, so that you may be successful.” [Surah An-Nur:31]

The Prophet SAWS said, “O people, turn to Allah in repentance. Verily, I repent to Him one hundred times in a day.” [Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2702]

We must hasten to ask repentance from our sins which we are aware of and also those of which we are not aware of.

Du’a

We are not promised the next day, let alone the upcoming Ramadan.  As Muslims, we should make sincere and heartfelt du’a that Allah (SWT) allows us to live to this upcoming Ramadan and reap the maximum benefits.

With all that his happening in Gaza, it is important that we also do not forget to remember our brothers and sisters in our du’as.

Setting Clear Qu’ran Goals

In addition to increasing how much Qu’ran we are reading and how much time we are spending with the Qu’ran leading up to Ramadan, we should also set clear Qu’ran goals.

For instance, if your goal is to complete the full Qu’ran during this blessed month, set clear goals of how many pages you will read each day. In addition to recitation, set goals for engaging in the tafseer, translation, and memorization of the Qu’ran.

Start from now! Don’t wait for Ramadan to start.

Remember, Ramadan is the month of the Qu’ran. It is stated in Surah Al-Baqarah:185, “The month of Ramaḍān [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’ān, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.”

Renew Your Niyyah by Preparing Ahead

Take some time to renew your intention (niyyah) as the blessed month approaches quickly. Write down all your goals, meal prep ahead of time, and think of ways you can reduce wasting your time when Ramadan comes, inshaAllah.

This can include completing any tasks that may distract us from worshipping Allah (SWT) fully.

Give Sadaqah

Increase in your acts of charity (sadaqah) by giving in the way of Allah (SWT).

Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He will multiply it for him and he will have a noble reward?” (Qur’an 57:11)

NYM Ink will have an exciting and beautiful opportunity for you to give sadaqah, gain reward and support the fruitful community efforts.
