“Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned.” [Qur’an 2:245]
Assalaamu alaykum wrwb!
I hope you and your family are doing well! It’s hard to believe that Ramadan is nearly over SubhanAllah and that the last 10 nights are upon us. I am reaching out to you with an opportunity to invest in the children, youth, and families in our Muslim community by supporting an organization that is very dear to my heart – NYMiNK.
When I first began volunteering with NYMiNK at the age of 19, I could not have predicted that I would still be with this organization through 3 university degrees, career changes, marriage, and motherhood. I’ve stayed and grown in my involvement and commitment because NYM offers a systematic approach to addressing the issues and creating opportunities in our community without compromising on principles and values – Alhamdullilah.
We have several streams of projects and initiatives that I’d love to be able to highlight for you, but in these final 10 blessed nights of Ramadan, I’ll focus on just a couple in hopes that you will contribute to grow our efforts.
1) Confidence & Leadership Building – Projects like the Imancipation Project, Camp Sunnah, and the Canadian Da’wah Conference have been cornerstone initiatives that address the issues of low self-esteem and confidence rampant in our communities. With socio-political hostilities on the rise, it’s been more critical than ever to have intentional, meaningful, and consistent initiatives that build confidence, strong leaders. Just over a month ago, our Canadian Da’wah Conference pivoted to an online format and was attended by participants in over 30 different countries! With no additional funds in hand, our volunteers stepped up to invest in the equipment and platform expenses to ensure that – even in a pandemic, the da’wah never stops!
2) Education & Outreach – Projects like Life Haqq, Muslim Minds, and our Weekly ‘Ilm circles are focused on providing critical education, learning, and reflections for Muslim youth, adults, young professionals, and families as a whole.
What I’d like to especially highlight for you is our Life Haqq podcast which has now been online and on the air for over a year! When COVID-19 hit, we were quick to pivot online as we knew that, more than ever, Muslims in our community needed a constant source of knowledge, information, and deeper analysis on the issues that are prevalent today. Our team has been committed to high quality productions, including our highly regarded Ottoman Series and much more. Did you know that the average cost of producing just one episode of a regular podcast is $1000-$2000? With 50 episodes alhamdullilah, that is a $50,000 – $100,000 investment from NYMiNK in education and outreach this year alone! We have big plans for this year to produce even more content featuring world-renowned guests that is focused on addressing issues of confidence, disunity, self-esteem, mental health and wellbeing.
Alhamdullilah, I have witnessed Muslims – young and old- walk away from our projects more confident, capable, and ready to practice this beautiful deen and I pray that inshallah this sets the standard for my own daughter as she grows up.
The Prophet (SAW) said: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
All proceeds go towards funding critical da’wah projects in our local community. Now, more than ever, we need efforts that foster confidence, resiliency, and hope for our community. Projects that allow us to stand tall and proud in our identity as Muslims.
